Varzea da Gonçala consists of 8 hectares of hill and meadow land, nestling amongst the hills of the western Algarve, bordered by the Cerca river, 12km from the Atlantic Coast and 6km from Aljezur.

We arrived here, Chris and Kris, in 2006, soon to be joined by our now five year old daughter Megan.
Over the years since, our wild land is steadily becoming a productive and healthy ecosystem, and a place where people can come and learn about how to work with nature to bring life to the land and live sustainably.
We provide traditional farmhouse accommodation, with the aim of providing tranquility and inspiration during your stay in this beautiful corner of Europe. We also run occasional courses in Permaculture, natural building and assorted topics on the theme of sustainable practices. We especially cater for families.
